Founded in 2006 at Ontario Institute for Studies in Education at University of Toronto as Indigenous Discussion Group, that year IDG received support to be the first presence from OISE/UT at the UN Permanent Forum on Indigenous Peoples (UNPFII) with the support of Dr. J. Gaskell, then Dean of OISE and Dr. G. Dei, then-Chair of the Department of Sociology and Equity Studies in Education IDG was renamed Indigenous Teaching & Learning Circle (ITLC) in 2010 when all lists were migrated to a new server. ITLC/WITlCC, was born in the Doctoral fieldwork of M.C.L.
