Dear CASLL/Inkshed--
Last night I just finished reading through all of the e-mails of the last
month as well as the CACE report to help me prepare for a dept mtg this
afternoon where the issue of class size for first-year courses is going to
be debated (it was really helpful to have so much information at
hand--thank you all). And it just occurred to me to ask--is there any
Canadian professional association for teachers of English or of writing or
of language arts that has a policy statement on class sizes for the
teaching of writing? I know in the states that NCTE, CCCC and WPA do
(suggesting a class max. of 20)--but is there anything on paper up here?
I'd sure appreciate knowing about it if so--and if not, could we develop
one ourselves? Thanks--Betsy Sargent
