JOB POSTING - Office of English Language and Writing Support


The School of Graduate Studies at the University of Toronto invites applications
for several part-time positions in the Office of English Language and Writing
Support.

QUALIFICATIONS:  Successful applicants should have an advanced degree and
extensive experience teaching writing and/or oral communication at the
university level. All qualified applicants, including graduate students, are
welcome to apply.  Preference will be given to candidates with training and
experience in the following areas: second-language instruction, scientific
writing, oral presentation skills, pronunciation, thesis writing, critical
thinking, and English for Academic Purposes (EAP).

DUTIES:  to work with graduate students in one-on-one consultations, group
workshops, and/or non-credit courses.

NO. OF POSITIONS (ESTIMATE): 3 - 5

SIZE OF APPOINTMENTS:
Variable - could range between 30 and 140 hours throughout the academic session.
Remuneration for University of Toronto graduate students will be in keeping with
the CUPE 3902 collective agreement.

DATES OF APPOINTMENTS:
Flexible - starting in September, 2001.

APPLICATION PROCESS: Candidates should send a curriculum vitae, the names of
three references, and a short writing sample to Dr. Jane Freeman, Director,
Office of English Language and Writing Support, School of Graduate Studies,
University of Toronto, 63 St. George St., Toronto, Ont., M5S 2Z9.  Interviews
will take place in early to mid-August for positions beginning in September
2001. Applications will be accepted until the positions are filled.  Only
applicants selected for interviews will be notified.  For more information on
