I just ran across this problem with SSHRC as well while preparing a Faculty
application. I put down Adult/Community Education as my committee of
choice since that was the closest fit -- a project on Myles Horton and
critical literacy and social action. So, I guess that it depends on your
project. It seems to me to be an enornous problem with SSHRC that it does
not list Composition and Rhetoric as a field.
I hope that helps to some degree.

Hi everyone,
I'm seeking advice on applying for a SSHRC.
Since the categories "rhetoric" and "composition" don't appear on the list
of disciplines, I'm not sure how to frame my program of work. Do I need to
justify why rhetoric is important? What committee should I choose to
evaluate my application?
Any tips would be much appreciated!
