OK, that's reasonable, but you have to be aware of the problem of
drug tolerance. Gradually, over time, it will require more and more
Oxycontin to have any beneficial effect on the pain, and eventually,
a dose that will help the pain will be dangerously toxic.

This is the problem with giving opiates to patients who do not have a
limited life expectancy; eventually, the drug will no longer work.
