I am just reading this article by Tom Shakespeare, called " Losing the Plot"
It is about the discourse between genetic scientists and the people with
disability.
According to him, people with disability look upon genetic advancements with
suspicion. They feel that the scientists are trying to achieve not just the
eradication of the disease, but of the sick people themselves. So it isnt
just the disease that is removable but by default the entire category of
people who have the disease become despensable.
I am just wondering how many people who have a disease like PD, actually
view genetics with suspicion?
Take care,
Lavanya
