LIMITED TERM LECTURER POSITION:

The Centre for Writing-Intensive Learning (CWIL) invites applications for a
full-time limited term lecturer to participate in the development and
implementation of writing intensive (WI) courses across disciplines at Simon
Fraser University.  CWIL is a newly constituted (Fall 2002) free-standing
centre with a mandate to help implement the writing requirement of the new
undergraduate curriculum.

The ideal candidate will have expertise in teaching writing; will be ready
to develop instructional materials and provide training and mentoring to
faculty, TAs or others involved in WI courses; will contribute research
skills to assist in designing and implementing methods of assessing WI
courses, both to determine their effectiveness and to guide modifications in
instruction and training; will be aware of ways to use instructional
technology effectively.

Preferred qualifications:  a PhD. in composition, rhetoric, discourse
analysis, curriculum theory and implementation or other related fields;
experience working in a writing centre and with professional development of
instructors; successful experience in teaching academic/university writing;
a knowledge of or experience of the sciences, applied sciences or technical
writing would be an asset.  A willingness to work collaboratively in a
flexible and emerging situation with all the attendant ambiguities is a
must!

Term: two years with the possibility of renewal.
Starting date:  September 1, 2003.
