7th CONFERENCE OF EARLI’S JURE
5-9 JULY 2004 ISTANBUL, TURKEY

“Research: from Theory into Practice”
Visit: http://www.earli.org or

INVITATION FOR JURE 2004

All junior researchers of Educational Sciences (whether doctorate
students, young/beginning/starting researchers or newly qualified
doctors) can present their research in the form of papers, posters or
roundtable discussions. This conference gives you the opportunity to:
1. discuss your research with internationally recognised scholars or
senior researchers
2. share your research concerns with researchers from all over the
Europe and even beyond
3. receive feedback on your presentation and your project design.
JURE encourages all scientific papers of research in education by
doctoral students or beginning researchers as well as PhD degree holders
till 3 years after defence. Any subject in learning and instruction and
related educational issues is welcome.
CONFERENCE THEME
Conducting research is often a road with obstacles. This conference is a
great opportunity to learn from the experiences of peers and senior
researchers. Problems that arise from conducting research are the focus
of the keynote speeches (theory), panels (discussions) and workshops
(practice).
There are 3 main issues:
1. Before research: DESIGN AND METHODOLOGY ISSUES
2. During research: RESEARCH AS A COURSE OF ACTION
3. After research: INTERPRETATION & PRESENTATION ISSUES
CALL FOR PAPERS
Researchers can submit a proposal for one of three activities outlined
below:
1. Paper presentation: 20 minutes of presentation followed by 10 minutes
for questions and discussions. Junior researchers will chair the sessions.
2. Poster presentation: posters will be displayed in 90 minute sessions
that will allow presenters to discuss their research with conference
members on an informal basis. An excellent opportunity to get feedback
through interactive discussion with several participants.
3. Roundtable discussions: For the first time in the history of JURE
conferences, you will have a chance to be a discussant in a roundtable
discussion session. This is a discussion session in which completed
research studies are presented briefly (10 min.) and discussed (20 min)
in a group of similar themed research studies.
        Guidelines for proposals:

1. Write an abstract of no more than 250 words and a summary of no more
than 1000 words. The summaries should include:
        the title
        keywords
        problem statement(s)
the significance of the study for the field of education and research
theory(ies) the research is based on
        research design
        subjects, sampling method
data collection instruments, procedures, analysis, interpretation
results and impact (if research has not yet been completed: expected
results and impact of your study for quantitative research)
2. Also include:
the name of the author(s), affiliation, contact address(es), country
and the name of the presenting author.
3. Specify the activity you want to participate: oral presentation,
poster presentation or roundtable presentation.

4. Format of the summaries:
        Times New Roman 12 points
        Double-spaced
        British English
        APA version 5.http://www.apastyle.org/
5. Specify the equipment needed for your presentation. Overhead
projector, flipchart/blackboard and beamer will be available in each
meeting room.
Submit both abstract and summary together in the same file to :
[log in to unmask] or [log in to unmask] until 30 November
2003

*Reviewing process
A committee of EARLI SIG members will review the proposals. Proposals
will either be accepted upon first submission, accepted after editing in
accordance with recommendations made by the review committee or
