a unique university experience.
Saint Mary's University is seeking an experienced teacher of writing
to
fill the position of Director for its Writing Centre. Under the
supervision of the Vice-President Academic and Research and the
academic
direction of the campus Literacy Council, the Director will be
responsible for overseeing a variety of writing services, training and
supervising Student Writing Assistants, managing the day-to-day
activities of the Writing Centre,and communicating its initiatives to
faculty and students. The successful candidate will have a record of
excellence in the teaching of writing at the University level. Proven
ability to work in a collaborative fashion, to implement new
programmes,
and the capacity to engage in long-term planning within the context of
the broader academic goals of the University are also important
considerations.
A minimum of a Master's degree in a discipline relevant to the
teaching
of writing, such as English, professional writing, rhetoric and
composition, communications, or applied linguistics, is required.
Salary range: $50,630 - $62,238 . Consideration of applications will
begin October 4, 2004 and will continue until the position is filled.
