Another one for you--harking back to my early days as a writing tutor!
When I first went to the University of Western Ontario as a graduate
student, there was a writing lab administered by the English department.
I don't know how long that had existed. It was dismantled in the early
1990s and replaced by a writing centre (called the Effective Writing
Program), under the auspices of Student Services, in 1996.
