All,

Apologies for cross-postings. I am currently on the CCCC Nominating Committee, and Cristina asked that I forward this note along to any interested colleagues.

Best,

Conference on College Composition and Communication <http://lists.ncte.org/t/1757609/4724741/4567/0/>

December 15, 2008

Dear Canadian colleagues ,

On behalf of the 2009 CCCC Nominating Committee, I would like to invite you to submit nominations for the posts of Assistant Chair <http://lists.ncte.org/t/1757609/4724741/10442/0/> , NCTE College Forum Committee Representative <http://lists.ncte.org/t/1757609/4724741/10443/0/> , Executive Committee <http://lists.ncte.org/t/1757609/4724741/10444/0/> (seven members), and 2010 Nominating Committee <http://lists.ncte.org/t/1757609/4724741/10445/0/> (five members). We are seeking to identify CCCC members who are committed to the organization and willing to do its work. The CCCC Nominating Committee has discussed the importance of reaching out to international members of CCCC and encouraging them to apply for leadership positions. We look forward to receiving nominations from our Canadian colleagues.

The post of Assistant Chair <http://lists.ncte.org/t/1757609/4724741/10442/0/> involves a four-year commitment, beginning in December 2009. During the first year of the term, the Assistant Chair also serves as Program Chair for the 2011 CCCC Convention. He or she becomes Associate Chair (December 2010), Chair (December 2011), and Immediate Past Chair (December 2012). The NCTE College Forum Representative <http://lists.ncte.org/t/1757609/4724741/10443/0/> serves a four-year term to expire in December 2013. In the fourth year of the term, the Representative succeeds to the post of Chair of the NCTE College Forum Committee. This standing committee facilitates collaboration among the college groups of NCTE. Committee members include the chairs and one representative from each college group. The College Forum meets concurrently with NCTE Annual Convention and the CCCC Convention and, on occasion, holds a meeting during the summer. Members of the Executive Committee <http://lists.ncte.org/t/1757609/4724741/10444/0/> are expected to make a three-year commitment to serving CCCC, beginning in December 2009. The Executive Committee meets for a full day immediately prior to the CCCC Annual Convention in the spring as well as for two days at the NCTE Annual Convention in the fall. Executive Committee and Nominating Committee <http://lists.ncte.org/t/1757609/4724741/10445/0/> members are chosen to represent a mix of institutions and regions. The officers and Executive Committee are committed to increased recruitment, representation, and participation of members of historically underrepresented groups in every aspect of the committee's work as well as throughout its activities.

Please send your nominations, with biographical information, by February 13, 2009, to Chair, CCCC Nominating Committee at [log in to unmask] I strongly encourage CCCC members to nominate themselves. If you are submitting a self-nomination, please include any documentation that you wish to submit for review, including biographical data, curriculum vitae, and related material [neither Nominating Committee members nor NCTE staff can solicit such materials]. Overall, please refrain from submitting more material than the Nominating Committee members can absorb about each potential candidate in the relatively brief time they have.

Further information about the CCCC elections process and responsibilities associated with each position is available at: MailScanner has detected a possible fraud attempt from "lists.ncte.org" claiming to be http://www.ncte.org/cccc/elections <http://lists.ncte.org/t/1757609/4724741/10446/0/> .

Thank you for your thoughtful consideration.

Sincerely,

Cristina Kirklighter
Chair, CCCC Nominating Committee
