There are two really important sources for this. Check on everything
written by Henry Hubert on this subject. YOu probably heard Henry at the
4 C's. And he has new book out. I don't have the reference on hand but
someone else in CASLL will probably send it along to you. Also check on
Roger Graves's monograph on writing in Canadian Universities. Roger's
book is an Inkshed publication.
