The Young Rhetoricians' Conference rides again -- June 22-24, 1995
Young Rhetoricians Anew
Welcome to whatever happens next! The Young Rhetoricians' Conference
has cut loose. Approaching cognition and discourse with a sense of inquiry,
irony, and amazement, The young Rhetoricians' Conference aims to breathe new
life into year-weary writing teachers. We celebrate the energy, insight,
wisdom, wit, and good humor of the sung and unsung who share a love of language
and learning. Balancing critical analysis with imagination and passion, we

The When and Where
From the summer solstice to the beginning of the annual Monterey Blues
Festival, June 22-24, congenial folks gather on the Del Monte beach of
California's Monterey Bay at the Monterey Beach Hotel. From your room
on the beach you can walk/run/bike/roller-blade on the paved
eucalyptus-grove beach path to explore historic Monterey, Cannery Row,
and/or tidal pools. Foray, perhaps, into Steinbeck country, or visit
the homes of Robert Louis Stevenson or Robinson Jeffers. Less than an
hour down the scenic coast highway, you can--as Kerouac or Henry Miller
did--escape to hike, indulge, and/or renew your senses amid the wilds
and redwoods of Big Sur.
Hotel accommodations are available at the Monterey Beach Hotel (reserve
soon, lest the place sells out). Sessions, workshops, book fair,
luncheons, beach barbecue, and more will happen at the hotel. Reserved
and walk-in registration, book fair, and general milling around begins
at 8:30 a.m., Thursday, June 22. Fly directly into Monterey or drive
down from San Francisco to the Del Rey Oaks/Sand City exit.
Ask for the Young Rhetoricians' rates at the Monterey Beach Hotel:
