Are those the only "rules" that the WPA list could come up
with?
My favourite is the rule that students frequently insist they have
learned from handbooks; to wit, that the word "however" is
always preceded by a semi-colon and followed by a comma. This "rule"
always provokes lively discussion; they are rarely convinced. At
least; however, I try!!
