There has been sufficient interest expressed that, instead of continuing
to send out individual copies of the information about our spammer, I am
just going to post it for all to either discard or use as you see fit!

Hi Abigail,

Just in case you wanted to you know, you were hit by the infamous
Kevin Jay Lipsitz who forges messages promoting his magazine business.

Here is some information that was circulated last fall when he hit
a more mailing lists...

Subject: Janet Dove, Patricia Eng, and Magazine Subscriptions
Date: Mon, 23 Oct 1995 01:40:00 CDT

Yesterday I gave some preliminary information on the magazine club
spam which seems to come around quite frequently. Thanks to some
netters who looked into this matter in a prompt way, I can give a
somewhat more detailed report at this time.

The sender of the magazine messages is Kevin Jay Lipsitz. Needless to
say, there is no such person as Janet Dove or Patricia Eng, nor any
international association of students.

Kevin Jay Lipsitz (KJL-DOM)
   PO Box 120990
   Staten Island NY 10312-0990

Note that the same box 990, is his address, in case there was a shred
of doubt. Box numbers are 'correctly' given as the the last two digits
of the zip code plus the box number, therefore:

Box 990 is the same as Box 120990 in this case.

If you have not yet sent off your letter to the postmaster in Staten
Island, NY let's change the text of our letters a little:

     Postmaster
     Staten Island, NY 10312

     ATTN: Lock Box Rental Supervisor

Text:

"Box 990 is claimed as the address of Kevin Jay Lipsitz, and he may
have rented the box as one for 'personal use only'. However, your
office should be made aware that in fact, the box is being used for
business purposes, to solicit the public for a magazine subscription
service being operated by Mr. Lipsitz.

Since it is in fact a business box, postal regulations permit you
to provide the name and street address of the box holder upon request
for same. Please provide me with the street address given by Mr. Lipsitz
at the time the box was opened or last renewed, and a telephone number
if one is available.

If you wish, you may simply jot your answer on the bottom of this
letter and return it to me in the self addressed, stamped envelope
I have provided. Thank you."

                ===============================

Now we are *pretty sure* we already have that information, however
there might be something more up to date.

What New York Telephone has for Kevin Jay Lipsitz is
 'address withheld at customer's request'
and the phone number 718-967-1234.

*We think* the address is 350 Richmond Terrace #5-P
                          Staten Island, NY 10301

where he lives with family members who use the phone number 718-442-3260.

He claims to have another fax line at 967-1144; maybe this one takes
longer than simple one page faxes. <smile>

If you want to hear a real nutcase, try calling that 967-1234 phone
number and listening to the L O N G winded greeting ....

Don't you have to register your business in New York with the appropriate
authorities? Do you suppose he has his magazine subscription club
properly registered?

Also, if you use DBA's or trade names (such as in his case,

"Janet Dove" "Patricia Eng" "International Association of Students"

don't you have to register those aliases also?

Well, be sure to inquire of the Staten Island Postmaster about Kevin's
use of Box 990 (or 120990) for business purposes, and be sure to let
Kevin know your feelings about spams on the net.

Remember Spammers: The war has started. War has been declared against
you. You *will* rue the day you ever heard of Usenet, let alone
started using it. You'll wish no one had ever told you about the net.

            ----------------------------------

I hope to follow up in the next day or two with more information on
Kevin Jay Lipsitz. As with Jeff Slaton, I'll attempt to give you
such specifics as his social security number, his place of employment
if any, a confirmed address, etc. If any of you have any interesting
tidbits about Kevin you want to share, please pass them along.

Remember Spammers: we *are* at war with you. Any information gleaned
about you from any reliable source will be used here in an effort
to embarass you, humiliate you, or cause you to be vulnerable. It
is our intention to put an end to your odious practices once and for
all. When you go away and be quiet, *we* will leave you alone.

If you want to be exposed as the vermin that you are, simply spam
the net. We'll get a message out for you alright .... but it may
not be one you want a lot of other people to know about.

            ------------------------------------

In the next day or two, I also intend to bring you information on
another old favorite here, the "Euphoria Tape" people, who operate
out of Clearwater, FL and also like to play games with sendmail
when they spam the net. Stay tuned!

            -------------------------------------

Remember readers, only YOU can prevent Spam! Make sure information
such as this message about Lipsitz is posted to various lists and
newsgroups where it needs to be seen by his victims. You are free
to put this message whereever it needs to be seen.
