Joyce, I agree with you that everyone experiences benefit from pallidotomy.
 It's a
bit like comparing apples and oranges sometimes when comparing benefits
among
patients . Many times the improvements are a very subjective and internal
thing.
Something that may be felt by the patient but not visible to the observer.
 Those
improvements are equally important. One of the beauties of outcome is that
we are
often able to take more Sinemet to control symtoms on the "other" side
without
experiencing the awful side effects. It is very im portant for patients to
remember'
 that Pallidotomies, Thalamotomies and DBS are not cures - just very good
control
techniques, allowing us to "buy some time" until the next best
treatment,medication
and ultimately comes along
