Hello Virginia --
I think you have come to the right place to find contacts with Canadian
writing-centre people, since so much of Canadian work with writing is done
through individual conferencing. Inkshed conferences always include
discussion of writing-centre work and on the uses of individual
conferencing; so does the Inkshed newsletter. I hope we'll meet at Mont St
Gabriel this spring!
And CATTW, the Canadian Association of Teachers of Technical Writing, also
brings together people from writing centres (including Janet Giltrow from
the Simon Fraser Writing Centre as president). There's usually a roundtable
session on writing centres at each of its conferences, and one is being
planned for the conference at the Congress of Learned Societies this June at
Sherbrooke. I'd be glad to see you again there too!
There are lots of US conferences, as listed in the Writing Lab newsletter
and website <http://owl.english.purdue.edu/Files/newsletter.html> and
<http://departments.colgate.edu/diw/NWCA.html> -- very good material there.
I haven't been to any conferences, but maybe somebody else on CASLL has. . .
.
Regards -- and looking forward to hearing more on writing centres from this
list,
Margaret.
