Jim - An informal survey of our support group many years ago indicated that almost everyone on Eldepryl had more difficulty sleeping. Even taking the first dose in the morning and the second dose at noon kept people awake. A number of support group members had already dropped down to only the morning dose. Dick tried that and it helped a bit, but eventually he discontinued it altogether, with the permission of his neuro. His neuro was one of the foremost movement disorder specialists in the world, and he said as far as he knew, after Dick had taken it for a couple of years, he may have derived all the neuroprotective effects he was going to get from Eldepryl. He was involved with the original studies of Eldepryl, and said the neuroprotective effects only last around 18 months. As for the supposed side effects of taking Sinemet: I get very impatient with doctors who delay Sinemet to the point that your quality of life is adversely affected. Sinemet (and the other drugs) affect everyone differently. You won't know until you try it. Is it worth having uncontrolled symptoms now, when you should still be able to live an active life? At the least, you should be on Mirapex or Requip. If those don't improve your condition, then don't hesitate to demand that your doctor let you try Sinemet. Is your doctor a movement disorder specialist, btw? Margie Swindler
