Jim,
Just my non-medical opinion, but I think you should move on to sinemet.  If you have had PD 10 years and have had no sinemet I'd say your doing great.  I'll bet you'd feel the difference with some dopamine replacement. Elydepryl doesn't provide much more than a protection to your neurons as far as I know. It'll also keep you hyper and unable to sleep.  That's one of the reasons I got off it years ago.  Eldepryl kept me so wired I lost 30 pounds in a year, and developed insomnia.  Maybe I'm the exception to the rule, but in 12 years I've haad no adverse side effects from sinemet.  I can't understand why everyone thinks it's so nasty.  Read the side effects on the other PD drugs.  It's a crap shoot.

Good Luck

JIM WROTE:
Hi Everybody. I am a newcomer to the list. I am 59 years old and have had PD for 10years. I have been following the mail on the merits of Requip vs Sinemet with interest. Since my diagnosis my Doctor has prescribed Eldepryl (Selegilene)  10mg per day to delay as long as possible, he says the sideaffects of taking Levdopa.

Orginally  PD  only affected my RHS, but recently the tremour/stiffness has also shifted  to my LHS .
I am also now finding it difficult to sleep at night. Has anybody had a similar experience with  the use of Eldepryl.?

My concern is at what point should I be moving on to either Requip or Sinemet.?
