Instead, proceed along the following lines: 1) I respect your right to hold your view, and I believe it to be honestly held. I won't try to change your mind on your opposition to abortion. 2) What I will do is attempt to persuade you that regardless of your stance on abortion, abortions will continue to take place in substantial numbers. By the way, I am opposed to abortions as a means of 'birth control'. 3) I am sure that you would not object to the foetuses that are aborted being used for a medically sound purpose 4) (This applies to Christian anti-abortion activists only) Christ did not address the issue of abortion.
