Walter and list,
On the tv show,Politically Incorrect, on ABC,
the guests were commenting
on the bowl's commercials. Ricky Schroeder said
he thought the Reeves'
commercial was in good taste and was a positive
attempt to highlight the
promise of investing to make $$$ that could then
be used to promote spinal
cord injury research. I agree.
        Mohammed Ali's commercial was more
subtle. A website or url that gives
medical/health information was revealed at the
end. The implication was
that Ali was working hard to be sure he had the
information he needs to
best understand and promote his own health.
I hope some of these bowl commercials will
still be on tv for awhile. Did
you notice the large amount of ads that were for
Internet companies? A
sign of the times.

Hot dawg! My thinking is right on the money! Did
you all see the visual commercial shown during
the Super Bowl game. Christopher Reeves got out
of his wheelchair and walked. Well not actually. It
was faked by technology, in an ad paid for by an
Investment Company. Reeves sees it as a win-win
proposition for both Spinal cord research, and as
publicity for the Investment company which picked
up the tab. How very American, hyping research
within the turf of hyped money making sport.
Fascinating!

Thank you so much for your comments. I was
beginning to get discouraged in my attempt to get
some disalogue going on policy matters.
Like, hey, is there anyone out there. I don't purport
to have all the answers, but I sure as hell don't
don't think I'm out in left field.
Interesting how dialogue can become emotional
and ego-involved. I ask myself, "Am I open to
change? There is a possibility that we can become
too critical in weighing every word. Example, In
my Neurologist's office a sign reads, FEEL FREE TO
TAAKE A PAMPHLET. I asked the nurse if taking a
pamphlet involved a feeling, an emotion. She said
I'll never look at that sign in the same way.
Likewise we should view what is new with an
open mind, while thinking about our present
knowledge.
