With a chronic, gradually worsening condition it's difficult to know just when
to apply.  With PD it is somewhat simplified by the fact of "Parkinsonian
syndrome" being on a Social Security listing of conditions that are regarded
as serious enough to justify qualifying, provided that there is medical
evidence of severity to the level indicated in the listing.

Try to find out what your payments would be.  If you were 65 now, would
you qualify for retirement benefits?  At what rate? (As I understand it, SSDI
is, stated loosely, retirement benefits paid as of a disability date which is
prior to regular retirement age.)  Also, if you are married, would receiving
SSDI payments affect your husband's Social Security retirement rate?
