I worked in a clinical/research lab in the late '80s that
had cultures of Ebstein Barr Virus...until I was able to
get them out to a different location. EB is associated
with mononucleosis and also causes DNA breakage.
I never got sick, but had to be exposed to it.

I also don't get common colds or the flu.

There has been some investigational interest in the
effect of viruses on DNA and therefor proteins, some
of which are prions, as well as mitochonrial DNA
and proteins.

I'm interested in such things and need to learn more
about the potential of the Human Genome project.
Gene therapy may be a possible "cure" in the future.

Did anyone see C-Span last night (Wed.), covering
NIH and FDA "oversight" of human clinical research trials?
All the "under reporting" and "non-compliance" in
human gene therapy research involving negative incidents,
was not good to see. I hope something can be done.

I feel for you Ivan, you're farther along than I am.
I'm glad to see your hope when you let it show.
Something will click and there will be understanding
and someone will make sense of things and progress
will happen.

Hopefully yours,
