The only "tremor" disorder in which alcohol can be of benefit is in > a neurologic condition known as Essential or Benign Familial Tremor. However, about 10 - 20 % of PD patients have an additional tremor resembling the tremor seen in Essential Tremor. In these cases alcohol may be of benefit for this specific type of tremor in PD. Anecdotally, some of my patients report an improvement of their typical Parkinson tremor with alcohol. Chris van der Linden, M.D.
