Pub Med 9440313 Melanin-porphyrin interaction.
Dopa Melanin forms a complex with the cationic porphyrin.
Comprehensive Protocol for Evaluating Disorders of Porphyrin Metabolism by
Albert Donnay and Grace Ziem
The acute porphyrias always display neurologic symptoms affecting the
central, peripheral, and autonomic nervous systems.

Increased Lipid Peroxidation kills neuromelanin cells.

PARKINSONS DISEASES:

1. 4HNE Gene Mutation - Parkinsons Disease - 4HNE is a byproduct of lipid
peroxidation. Dopamine protects the brain from lipid peroxidation.
Decreased dopa melanin, decreased porphyrin.

2. PARK 1,2,3 Gene Mutations - Alpha Synuclein Parkinsons Disease - Extra
DNA threonines increase fat metabolism and increase lipid peroxidation.
Decreased dopa melanin, decreased porphyrin.

3. SOD2 Gene Mutation - Superoxide Dismutase Manganese Two protects the
cells from lipid peroxidation. A mutation causes increased lipid
peroxidation. Decreased dopa melanin, decreased porphyrin.

4. NADH Gene Mutation - NDUFV2 - Complex I of Mitochondrial Respiration. -
Ferric iron cannot become ferrous iron . An iron ion cannot be given to
porphyrin. Ferric iron binds with dopamine that causes increased lipid
peroxidation. Decreased dopa melanin, decreased porphyrin.

5. Ubiquinone Mutation - MTND1 - or Rotenone Herbicide - or
benzyltetrahydroisoquinoline Caribbean Parkinsons or
6,7-Dihydroxytetrahydroisoquinoline. Complex II of Mitochondrial
Respiration - Ferric iron cannot become ferrous iron. Ferric iron binds
with dopamine that causes increased lipid peroxidation. An iron ion cannot
be given to porphyrin. There is a decrease in iron-porphyrin.

6. Reiske Iron Mutation - UQCRFS1 - Manganese - Tellurium. Complex III of
Mitochondrial Respiration - Ferric iron cannot reach ferrochelatase when
inhibited by manganese and be given to porphyrin. Ferric iron cannot reach
porphyrin when inhibited by tellurium which can substitute for the sulphur
in the [2Fe-2S] cluster of ferrochelatase and Reiske iron. Increased iron
binds with dopamine and causes increased lipid peroxidation. There is a
decrease in iron-porphyrin.

7.Reserpine or 6- Hydroxydopamine or any medication inhibiting dopamine,
catecholamines would cause a decrease in dopamine that protects cells from
lipid peroxidation. Decreased dopamine, increased lipid peroxidation,
decreased dopa melanin, decreased porphyrin.

8. Long-term exposure to metals, including mercury.
Urinary Porphyrin Profiles as a biomarker of mercury exposure: studies
on dentists with occupational exposure to mercury vapor.
by Woods JS, Martin MD, Naleway CA & Echeverria D
Any metal that would prevent iron from reaching ferrochelatase and that
inhibits porphyrin would cause Parkinsons.
PMID 8784840 The enigma of Parkinsonism in chronic borderline mercury
intoxication, resolved by challenge with penicillamine.

9. Any Chemical that inhibits one of the players in the Mitochondrial
Respiratory chain would increase ferric iron and inhibit porphyrin and
cause increased lipid peroxidation, destruction of neuromelanin cells, and
decreased porphyrin.

10. CYP2D6 Gene Mutation of Glutathione Reductase. Glutathione Reductase
protects the body from lipid peroxidation.
Increased lipid peroxidation, decreased protective dopa melanin, decreased
porphyrin.
