You are all being very calmly patient. Thank you for your kind indulgence.
The party boat will leave Granville Island for Bowen Island at 4:30 p.m.
If you book a flight scheduled to arrive in Vancouver airport by 2 p.m.,
you should be able to arrive at the dock relaxed and unworried.
SFU Conference Services has found several moderately priced hotels for
those of you who want to arrive a day or more early (or leave a day or more
late). Granville Island Hotel is quoting is $120 a night. In the downtown
core the Barclay on Robson quoting $75/night. And, of course, there is
always the Sylvia (on English Bay near Stanley Park), the Coast Plaza (also
in the West End), and the YWCA (downtown).
On the way back, we are leaning toward a relaxed schedule that would
include lunch at Bowen Island and get you back to downtown Vancouver (where
you can get a shuttle to the airport) also by 4:30 p.m. Which means your
flight should depart at or after 6:30 p.m. Option B, which we will check
out if there is a groundswell, would end the conference with an 11 a.m.
brunch and get you to downtown Vancouver by 1:30 p.m. Groundswellers, if
you're out there, please speak up now.
