Anecdotal news re DBS: my mother is having DBS (sub-thalamic nucleus) surgery at Beth Israel in New York on 3/13/00. Surgery performed by Dr. Ronald Alterman. Apparently, this experimental protocol is approve by Medicare, but not yet the FDA, something that at first thought seems contradictory. I don't get it, but that is the info.
