hi hans

my experience is that when copying and pasting text
from some word processing programs [not all]
into some e-mail software programs [not all]
the character set "iso-8859-1"
is responsible for those pesky =20 codes at the end of each line
as well as some other irregularities in formatting

in other words,
in terms of being "identical" to "us-ascii", "iso-8859-1"
gets close, but no cigar!

the "us-ascii" character set is the only one guaranteed to be
consistent across all platforms and in all software applications

which is the whole point of e-mail and the internet, no?
