i believe that standardization is important, but so is change to
better standards. the goal to have all the archives in the simplest
set is not overarching to all value/benefit.

some messages must be videos in color to transmit their message.

the whole point of the internet is not simplicity.

archiving is useful
multiple archives of the same information is wasteful in some instances
access to information in books is most appropriate for some collections
a video digital disk of real time surgery demonstration lecture
cannot be done in ascii
