Dear Jack and Jean, The first neuro who advised you was probably a 'generalist' with little experience in movement disorders, and could have been thrown off by your wife's young age -- this is not uncommon. The second neuro, a movement disorder specialist, was able to provide a better understanding of her tremor and is more aware of the incidence of 'young-onset Parkinson's disease.' For the best possible answers to your questions, you can ask Dr. Abraham Lieberman, a leading specialist in PD. Go to the National Parkinson Foundation website: http://www.parkinson.org/ and scroll down to, and click: Ask Dr. Lieberman, NPF Medical Director After signing in, you can cut/paste in the text of your message to this listserv. Dr. Lieberman generally responds within a couple of days. My very best regards to you both, Kathrynne -- Kathrynne Holden, MS, RD Medical nutrition therapy for Parkinson's disease Author: "Eat well, stay well with Parkinson's disease" "Parkinson's disease: interview and assessment tools for nutrition professionals" "Risk for malnutrition and bone fracture in Parkinson'sdisease," J Nutr Elderly.
