I practiced tai chi many years ago, and found it to be very relaxing and calming. However, some movements require you to balance on one foot. Another option is chi gong (also written as qi gong, chi gung, etc.), Chinese exercises that are designed to improve health. There are many different types of chi gong exercises; some styles are similar to tai chi and others that involve standing still for long periods. I just bought a nice video called "Discovering Chi: Energy Exercises for the Beginner" (taught by Linda Modaro and based on Ni Family chi gong). The exercises were gentle and flowing, but I still worked up a bit of a sweat. Sometimes you can rent these videos to try before you buy or sign up for classes (check holistic book stores as well as the usual video rental places). Good luck!
