I just looked it up on Internet.  Splenda is McNeil's (Div. of J & J)  trade name for a chlorinated
derivative (3 chlorine atoms replacing 3 OH's) of sucrose.  Claims approval of FDA and very sweet.
I never heard of it, but I'll do further inquiry, matbe contact FDA directly.
