I have researched this (MEDLINE) several times in the past (this issue comes up at intervals) and there is no evidence that a significant amount of mercury "leaches" out of the amalgam fillings. In fact, what literature there is reports that there is more mercury (vapor, actually) that is released *when the fillings are removed* than when they are left intact.
