Dear Anita: Dr. Iacono has operated on severeal dystonia patients and over 1,700 other movement disorder cases. The surgical procedure is safe, but you should ask Dr. Doshi how many cases he has performed and the recovery rate. Dr. Iacono wrote a case report "Simultaneous Bilateral Pallidoanstotomyf or Idiopathic Dystonia Musculorum Deformans".
