        Yes, the MBTI is one of many personality-type, psychological
     tests that are available and one of the most popular ones -- I
     think I've taken them all. :-)

        From the 1990 edition of the test:

     -----------------------------------------------------------------
        The MBTI (Myers-Briggs Type Indicator) was developed by an
     American mother and daughter team., Katharine Briggs and Isabel
     Myers. They based the Indicator on the work of C. G. Jung, a
     Swiss psychiatrist who had studied people's behaviors for many
     years. The MBTI provides a useful measure of personality by
     looking at eight personality preferences that all people use at
     different times. These eight preferences are organized into four
     bi-polar scales. When you take the Indicator, the four prefer-
     ences that you identify as most like you (one from each scale)
     are combined into what is called a "type."

        In order for you to make the most of your results, it is im-
     portant to understand that the MBTI:

     * describes rather than prescribes; it feeds back to you in or-
     ganized form the preferences you indicated when answering the
     questions
     * describes preferences, not skills or abilities
     * says that all preferences are equally important
     * is well documented and researched with hundreds of scientific
     studies conducted over a forty-year period
     * has a user's organization devoted to its continued research
     and development
     -----------------------------------------------------------------

        The eight preferences are:

     * (I)ntrovert/(E)xtrovert
     * (S)ensing/I(n)tuition
     * (T)hinking/(F)eeling
     * (J)udgment/(P)erception

        So, when I said that I was I(53)N(9)F(7)J(13) -- or more sim-
     ply, INFJ -- I was saying that I was an Introvert, Intuitive,
     Feeling, and Judgment type person. The numbers are a scale where
     the higher the number the more you tend towards that particular
     preference. And, the lower the number, the more you tend toward
     that preference's complimentary preference.

        For example, I am a strong (53) Introvert but weak in (9) In-
     tuition and tending a little towards Sensing. For more informa-
     tion, you might surf over to:

        And, personally, I just thought it might be interesting to
     find out if PWPs might tend to cluster around a particular type.
     Take care ...
