I agree that one should strive to write "the best and most correct thing."   Twenty
years ago I was responsible for the department which developed the specifications and
procedures for typesetting journals.  When I met with them for the first time I told
them I did NOT expect them to write instructions that could be understood.  After a
short pause I added "I expect you will write them so they cannot be misunderstood.
