Dear List-Family... I'm one of the many "Barbs" (aka Barbara, Barbie, etc..) who calls this little corner of Cyberspace her "Virtual Home." I'm here 'cause for the past 25 years I've been forced to be the unwilling "host" to Parkinson's Disease. And as we all know, if one has PD or has a loved one with PD, this is THE premier place to find out about this particular disease and all it's ramifications. It's also the place to communicate with some of the finest, most empathetic, and PD-savvy folks in the world. Since the AVERAGE age of Parkinson's onset is somewhere in the 50 years old and older bracket. you're gonna find a lot if names here that were popular 50 or so years ago.... names like Judy, Linda, Jo Ann, and... you guessed it... BARBARA.. In fact, there's Barbaras ALLLLL over this cyberplace in Cyberspace, and because it's a long name for Parkie-fingers to comfortably type, no matter WHAT version of that name any individual Barbara goes by in "real life," here on the PIENet, we ALL get reduced to "Barb." Heck... even the List OWNER, fer goodness sake, is named Barbara! <fond smile at THAT Barb> Speaking for THIS "List Barb," it gets SOOO confusing to receive an email addressed to ME, but MEANT for Barb P. Ditto for messages sent to me but intended for one or another of the OTHER Barbs who are "regulars" here on the List. Folks, it drives me NUTZ to read half-way thru a message addressed to "Barb," only to realize it was meant for one of the other List-Barbs. If it's a simple question such as "What happens to my email when I go on vacation?" I just fire off a brief response with the Listserv directions rather then further burden Barb P, because I know it's not like she's just sitting 'round reading love stories and eating bonbons up, just waiting for the email to roll on in. SOOO... based upon the sheer number of "Barbs" hanging out here on the List, THIS Barb would REALLY appreciate it that when you're addressing or referring to me, please take a moment and to add the first initial of my last name which is "M" for "Mallut." And if possible, why not make it easier to many of the other List Barbs, why not include the first initial of THEIR List name to any email ya send 'em? Thanks a LOT....! Barb Mallut [log in to unmask]
