David,
If your HMO won't approve of you seeing a movement disorder specialist then
try to get another opinion from another neuro. I am personally so disgusted
with some of the medical community I feel like heaving. I was 35 when I was
diagnosed with PD. At first it was thought to be carpal tunnel. After the
unnecessary surgery I searched out several specialists. They gave me
several tests, i.e. MRI, CT, spinal tap, quarts of blood and other body
fluids. They made me do the chicken in front of a panel of about 15 of
them. The conclusion was PD. I started on sinemet 12 years ago. Today
they have agonists for the newly diagnosed that are supposedly effective.
Like requip for one instance. Educate yourself on PD. Take literature in
to show your doctor. I swear that most PWP's know more than some of them!
