Dear Hillary, My name is Marvin Weiss and I am a PAP. Age of onset 36, age dig. 40 and presently 51. I was the past president of the NJ State support group and I have been involved with PAN since her second year in existence. In fact my brother Fred is a member of the board of directors of PAN/Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research. The tickets were $250/each, regardless of whether you have PD or not. The main gist of the program was to announce the dissolution of PAN and the "Marriage" of both organizations under the Michael J. Fox banner with Joan the new President & CEO & Michael as Chairman of the Board. The other main point of the dinner was primarily fund raising, they raised approx. $700,000 from the dinner. Joan was so happy and proud, it was like she was reborn. It is the best I have seen her look for about two years. Pat O'Brien was the Master of Ceremony, his mother died of PD last year, and he said to watch "Access Hollywood" tonight for a piece about the dinner. The staff of Spin City was there, including his wife Tracy & his mother. I had the opportunity to meet him and thank him for all the work he is doing for the PD community. He is so humble and warm, just like one of the guys. ----- Original Message ----- From: Hilary Blue <[log in to unmask]> To: <[log in to unmask]> Sent: Tuesday, May 23, 2000 8:34 PM Subject: Re: News Coverage > it is amaizng how simple it can be. i put in a call to our local abc > affiliate, and had asked one other support group member, who called in too. > before i had a chance to ask anyone elese for help, a reporter had already > contacted our local chapter headquarters and said they will do something on > the news tomorrow night - we dont know what, yet.
