Northwest Parkinson's Foundation This Letter to the Editor was in today's Seattle Times. Letters to the editor Readers write about Parkinson's Disease Parkinson's Disease Story on Gardner draws attention to disease, need for information Editor, The Times: Your story on May 31 about Gov. Booth Gardner ("Gardner enjoying life despite Parkinson's") was tremendous. It detailed so well the evolution of a great life. The article also makes clear one of the basic tenets of living with Parkinson's disease: Getting information and good care about the disease has been far too difficult. If Gardner was unable to find information and good care, how can anyone else be expected to find it? We met with Gardner two years ago and pointed him toward a specialist. It changed his life, and he got excited about the possibilities we had created with the newly formed Northwest Parkinson's Foundation. He is now the chairman of the board of directors. There are 70,000 people in the Northwest who need information and care. Thank you for shedding light on Parkinson's, and on one man's good fight. The help is now here for those who need it.
