June 9, 2000 Dear Parkinson’s Advocate: The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research is holding its 2000 Public Policy Forum in Washington, D.C. from June 25 - 27. Time to register is drawing short and space is limited, so interested advocates are encouraged to review the information through the links provided below, or call the Foundation at (800) 850-4726. Continuing the successful six-year tradition of the Parkinson’s Action Network, the Foundation’s 2000 Forum will be a unique experience for Parkinson’s advocates. Gathering in the nation’s capitol with roughly one hundred and fifty fellow activists, Forum participants will receive intensive advocacy training, up-to-date scientific briefings from top Parkinson’s researchers and direct lobbying opportunities with Senators, Representatives and congressional staff. Meeting face-to-face with Members of Congress, and imparting the urgency of our message, can be very persuasive. That is one reason why it is so important for you to attend this year’s Forum. The Forum also provides knowledge and skills that advocates will take back to their communities to build effective local, state or regional grassroots organizations. This year’s Forum will be held from Sunday, June 25 through Tuesday, June 27 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel on Capitol Hill. Due to the tremendous interest in Forum 2000, we urge you to register now to secure your space!
