EXPANSION PLANS FOR DOMAIN NAMING SYSTEM ICANN, the nonprofit corporation that has been given authority to manage the registration of Internet domain names, is seeking one more round of public comment before it expands the naming system beyond domain currently available (dot-com, dot-org, and so forth). See "http://www.icann.org" The organization hopes to begin taking bids from companies wishing to run the new domains by the beginning of August and will pick suffixes from ones proposed by qualified bidders.
