This fellow is not the only act on the block!

There are lots of 'hard-sell artists' around. Scam is a tough word to
use, but it is very often appropriate. We have had many sales pitches at
our support groups... Retirement villages, hospitals, pharmaceutical
manufacturers, nursing homes, physical / occupational therapists, United
Way agencies, MD's, etc. which we generally welcome. One of the main
purposes of support groups is information dissemination. One of the tasks
of a support group leader is to decide which presentations would likely
benefit the members.

We have been getting calls from people wanting to help us by selling us
very valuable art works at a substantial discount. We can then resell it
and make thousands of dollars. The sellers seem to be sincere - even if
they don't really mean it - in their attempt to help us. I have been civil
to them, but have not let them near the support group.

Our organization was taken for a few thousand $$ a while back by an artist
who painted a PD picture for us complete with many, many, prints. An old
American Indian with his Shaman and a very pot bellied Indian child. I
never figured out the connection to PD. I think it would have been better
if we had waited for the paint by the numbers edition.
