Sharon - I was under the impression that some of the neuros at U. of Mo.-Columbia Med Center were movement disorder specialists. When the Kansas City chapter of the APDA has their annual meeting, it usually alternates between KC and Columbia, and there are always neuros from Columbia who speak knowledgeably about PD. I'm sorry I can't give you the names of any of them, but why not ask Jeanne Lee-Rosner of the NPF if she can give you a referral. If you aren't successful at finding anyone in Columbia (I think you will be), your other options would probably be Kansas City or St. Louis. It's about the same distance either way. Dr. Rajnesh Pahwa is the doctor we see at the Univ. of Kansas Med Center, and is a movement disorder specialist. We also like Dr. Ed Miyawaki, and I believe there are others you could see at KU as well. BTW, we used to live in the Georgetown subdivision in Columbia. Margie Swindler << My father has Parkinson's. We live in Columbia, Missouri, in the middle of the state, about half-way between St. Louis and Kansas City. I was wondering if anyone on the list would know of a movement disorder specialist within driving distance that you would recommend? There are neueorologists in Columbia, but if I understand correctly, there are no movement disorder specialists locally. Thanks so much for any suggestions you might share.
