Hi all, On Tue, 18 Jul 2000 11:03:09 a couple of the digests con- tained: Date: Mon, 17 Jul 2000 22:48:03 -0600 From: Sylvia Berger <[log in to unmask]> Subject: Re: 'hallucinations' was Question about tremor > > "William A. When I had the Requip pre- scription filled, I noticed that one of the side-effects was pos- sible hallucinations. So, I asked my neurologist about it and he told me that that side-effect was generally more common in folks who are at the higher stage-levels (I'm in 2 (I think)) and who have other neurological disorders at the same time. The thing that interested me is how my consciousness seemed to switch back and forth between the two perspectives > ... it always happens late at night when i'm tired but > too stressed to go to bed ... As I'm sitting here typing this reply much earlier than the previous two nights, I don't notice it now. > ... I decided that these "visions" were mild hallucinations possibly > caused by a combination of fatigue and meds ... I'm going to keep my "eye" on this "hallucination" and see what happens. I ramped up -- .25 mg. x 3, .50 mg. x 3, .75 mg. x 3 -- on the Requip. But on the Amantadine, I just "dove in." So we might be in the "same boat." I agree that it takes time and effort -- even with techniques I use. Concentration is the more important as if you "loose it," you have to start all over. My technique involves using my mind to try to direct different muscle groups to "be still, relax, and sleep." I start at my feet and have about 10 different muscle groupings that I "talk to." It can take anywhere from 15 minutes to more than a half-hour. But, as someone else recently said on list, "... I can't tell you how much I appreciate the hour or so of feeling *NORMAL* I have when I awaken ..." and, for me, I have much the same feeling through that "Focus" state. Thank you, Lanier, for describing your technique. It sounds like we do similar things to achieve the relief. And, yet another digest contained: Date: Tue, 18 Jul 2000 12:48:50 -0400 From: Camilla Flintermann <[log in to unmask]> Subject: Re: 'hallucinations' was Question about tremor > ... What Peter often experiences sounds like Sylvia's > description-- a sense of someone just behind one, just out of sight--- we > were told that this is a common hallucination, and probably meds needed > adjustment . Does that compute? ... Or yet another idea, Camilla, it may have come from our both having lived in Oxford, OH! ;-) Seriously, I had not heard that described as a *common* hallu- cination for PWPs. As previously, however, I worried about that side effect of Requip. So, as I monitor my "well being" over the next few days, I'm going to try to determine if this event re- peats itself, how close to the medication times they occur, and to rate the amount of tiredness I am feeling to see if I can find a pattern for me. As I have heard on this list before and my neurologist recent- ly reaffirmed, only I know what's going on in my body. So, I am trying to "experiment" with the medications. One thing I want to try is to see what the Requip does by itself without the Car- bidopa/Levodopa. But, I'll have to wait until I'm back home for two or more weeks straight. Thank you for writing Camilla. I appreciate your sharing.
