fleurette,
i have just ended a 3 month experiment with requip. i was taking mirapex -
had some dyskinesia and a tendency to narcolepsy.so we tried requip. ir
tookthreemonths to reduce the mirapex, bring up the requip and see what
happened. unfortunately, what happened was not good - my dyskinesia got much
worse, i developed a tendency to crash i.e. change in a matter of minutes,
even seconds from dyskinsia to bradykminesia, even dystonia. added to this, i
lost the anti depressive effect of mirapex, so i had some real bad episodes of
depression. last tuesday, my doctor suggested i get off the requip and onto
miorapex again - and by Friday i had flipped totally to mirapex. it worked - i
am feeling much better - still get dyskinesia, but my 'useful' time, between
dystonia and dyskinesia has been extended and i've actually mananged to do
some packing towards my move next week!
so requip wasn't the designer drug of choice for me!
btw, i also take sinemet, comptan and inderol (this last for migraine prevention)
bromocryptine(parlodel) is one of the old standard agonists - possibly even
the firs one. Th at is what i was prescribed when ui first came here in 1984.
it has various u unrelated properties - for instance is given to new mothers
whop do not want to nurse as it will dry up the milk. it also can cause
tremendous migraines n those wh o hgavwe a tendency. we were not happy
together - and yet i took it right through my third pregnancy - of course i
did not have any milk, but otherwise every th ing was normal
i hope these descriptions of my own personal experiences have helped you a little
hilary
