Chere Fleurette: Just to add to Jeanette's explanation, and she is a doll, an agonist is a substance that mimics or simulates the same action as the standard, in this case the gold standard is L-dopa from Sinemet. The agonist (Permax, Parlodel, Requip, or Mirapex) are given between the Sinemet doses to fill the gap, otherwise more Sinemet would need to be prescribed. My Barbara did not tolerate Parlodel (Bromocriptine?) but did pretty well with Permax, so that she has been on it for many years. Chere Fleurette, comme dit Denis, ne lache pas la patate.
