In reply to your suggestion, I did that in my own cabinets because I once had a leaking elbow under my kitchen sink and learned what damage it can do if not noticed. I have new cabinets now, and decided then to install ceramic tiles using thin set which I had learned to do by setting my own bath walls and counter ceramic tiles.
