Suicide can take many forms
- other than physically killing oneself
There is professional suicide,
- where one, consciously or unconsciously
- (frequently unconsciously) breaks contacts and relationships
- which have stood for many years
- Where one offends customers for no reason
- (or for reasons only imagined )
- Where one lets business opportunities deliberately slide away
- without caring, without a backward glance
- except to say, “Good riddance. I didn't need the aggravation,
anyway”
There is marital suicide
- where one allows irritations to build to rage
- which leads to saying hurtful things (or worse)
- that, previously, would have remained unspoken.
- Where one, deliberately or not
- lets situations get out of hand,
- far beyond the point where logic would say,
- “Stop this. It isn't worth it. This must be coming from
somewhere else.”
There is social suicide
- Where one lets slide personal relationships to the point
- where others take offense and break off contact.
- Where one leaves groups that have been
- the mainstay and pleasure of one’s past
There are many faces of suicide
- other than physically killing oneself
