<< I am in the middle of Mexico & have been without a TV for weeks,
do not get English on my radio, and must go looking for an English
newspaper. Yesterday I found a newspaper that was only a day old.
Also, I have been trying to get onto a local ISP. >>

Thanks Joan, I know that there are newspapers on the Internet, but my AOL is
long distance every time I go online, and the local ISP won't take me to the
Internet, so I can't take the time to read papers. (we just got our phone
bill !!). Could something be wrong with my modem? Does anyone know what my
problem could be ? I'd like to sign on with a local ISP (which I have done,
& it connects but won't go anywhere) & get to AOL thru it. Is this possible?

<<Hi Nancy,
Here's an idea... when you get your PC and ISP hookup working,
make http://www.go.com your homepage and you will be up to the
minute with ABC World News...... The go.com site loads quicker than CNN...
http://www.cnn.com/ or World News http://www.freepost.com/
or ABC's own site.... http://www.abcnews.com
If you would like to read a newspaper online go to Best Online Resources
Page "N" and browse.... http://www.nservices.com/best11.htm
cheers ......... murray

<<The alltime quick'n dirty online translator is babelfish....
Gail Vass gave us the heads up a couple years ago....
Online Translation:
February 12, 1998 -- AltaVista has introduced an new online translation
service.
It's called "Babelfish," and it provides -- free of charge -- a site for
users to
translate English text into German, French, Spanish, Italian and
Portuguese. It also works in reverse, rendering those languages into
English.
Babelfish can be found at http://www.babelfish.altavista.com/translate.dyn

This one, Free Translator, is very similar. http://www.freetranslation.com/

There are other online translators...

but I haven't tried 'em...

We try to make a difference ......... murray>>

And you do make a difference, Murray. Thanks so much. We did get the
satallite
dish up & running , but we haven't had TV for so long, that I forget about
it.

You do good work, Murray. . thanks
P.S. can you fix my computer ?
Forgot to mention that I have a picture of a Kookaburra on my wall.

Maryse, most stores in Mexico close for a siesta.
Sid, you might get some nice cowboy boots made for you in Mexico.
They are suppose to be very comfortable.

and also- - (I'm avoiding one-liners. Someone didn't like them.)

<< In Egypt my friend Rafik warned me to stay away from the melons at the
stands because they were often injected with camel urine because the salt
made it taste "sweeter".>> . .David M, I have to wash all fruit & vegetables
. . .makes it very tempting to buy canned or frozen ones!! (except that we
can't find the can opener, the ice cream scoop or pot holders. . .they are
probably in storage in Iowa!
